DENILSON WILL STAY

The manager of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, has said that the Brazilian midfielder Denilson is not going to leave the club and the reports about his transfer are just rumours. In the last few days, there have been speculations that AC Milan is interested in Denilson and the midfielder might be on his way to Italy. But, Wenger has ended all those speculations and said that Denilson would play for Arsenal in the 2012-13 season. In the last season, Denilson had played for his former club Sao Paulo on loan.  On being asked about the reasons for placing Denilson on loan in the previous season, Wenger said that there were so many experienced players in the team in the last season. So, Denilson was not likely to get regular chances. So, the club decided to place him on loan so that he could get regular chances to play. But, in this season, many senior players have left the club.  So, the club needs Denilson’s services in this season.

Denilson has been playing for Arsenal since the last 6 years. He had joined the club in August 2006.  Arsenal had bought him from Sao Paulo after paying a transfer fee of 3.4 million pounds. He played his first match for Arsenal in December 2006 against Sheffield United. He wasn’t able to score any goal in his first season for Arsenal. His first goal for Arsenal was against Newcastle United in September 2007.  Denilson gave some impressive performances for Arsenal in the 2008-09 season and cemented his place in the side. But, due to the inclusion of Jack Wilshire in the Arsenal squad in the 2010-11 season, Denilson was often ignored by Wenger in that season. In the last season, Denilson didn’t play that well for Sao Paulo.

Wenger has massive hopes with Denilson in the new season. He said that when Denilson had first burst on to the scene, he didn’t have a very good temperament. But, he has become a lot more composed now and he would be a vital member of the team in the 2012-13 season.
