Focus On: Denilson

Denilson Pereira Neves was born on 16th February 1988 in Sao Paulo is a Brazilian footballer who plays for his home town club Sao Paulo in the position of the mid fielder. He has been the captain of the Brazilian under 17 team and has been a great show case of talent and skills on the field. Denilson has a family backing when it comes to football.

His father Jose Neves used to play as a midfielder at Botafogo in the North of Brazil. Jose had to quit his football profession so as to support his family and eventually ended up being a security guard. His son Denilson Neves had continued to live his dream and went to becoming the captain for the Under 17 Brazilian national team which was a proud moment not only for the boy, but also for his entire family.

Denilson joined Arsenal in the year 2006 for a total of 3.4 million dollars. This came as quite a shock to many as he was quite an inexperienced player and had never played international football with the big daddies of the game. Denilson scored his first goal for Arsenal when he played against Newcastle United at the Carling Cup in 2007 helping his team to seal a win with a score of 2-0. This goal along with his dedicated and improving performance helped him to secure a respectable position in Arsenal and had developed quite a number of fans. Denilson has been appearing in a very few appearance during the current 2010- 2011 season. This is mainly due to his injury as well as the rise of another new teen sensation named Jack Wilshire. Denilson has also decided that he would leave Arsenal and return back to Brazil to continue his football career there.
