Brazilian player, Denilson has helped Al Wahda won the Arabian Cup. This is the first trophy that the club has won in the past four years.
The match started well for Al Wahda with the Brazilian opening the scoring only 16 seconds after the start. This was the conclusion of a fantastic move with Jorge Valdivia passing the ball to Mohammed Al Akbari. The latter found Denilson with a precise pass, and the Brazilian could not miss. The Al Maktoum Stadium erupted with Al Wahda fans pleased with the goal.
Despite playing the second half with 10-men, Al Wahda will hold on and win the game to help them get their first trophy after 4 years.
The Al Wahda manager, Javier Aguirre did not wish to comment on the sending off and stated that the game became more challenging when playing with 10 men. He congratulated his players that remain focused and disciplined to hold on in order to get the win. He explained that his next objective now will be to finish third in the league so as to get a place in the Asian Champions League.
The Mexican coach believes that they can achieve this if they play with the same determination that they showed in the final. There are only five games left for them to achieve this and with the passion that they have shown in the Arabian Cup final, it is highly possible for the team to reach this objective.
Al Wahda indeed made their life difficult. They could have ended the game as a contest at the start of the second half. Sebastian Tagliabue spurned a chance to double the lead when he missed in front of the goal with only the goalkeeper to beat.
