The Brazil boss, Dunga, has admitted that Neymar’s wonderful play helped his team get the better of Peru yesterday in the all important Copa America game, but, he is not of the view that the Selecao depend a lot on their skipper.
Brazil beat Peru by 2-1 in their first match in Copa America played at Estadio Municipal German Becker, Temuco.
It was a mighty close game in which Brazil was trailing 0-1 at one point of time.
But, not only did Neymar come up with the equalizer to nullify that early Peru goal, he assisted his teammate Douglas Costa in the stoppage time to ensure his team got the second goal and bagged the three points.
The forward was awarded the player of the game for being so impressive and Dunga did not hold back in praising his main man in the post match media talks.
In the words of Dunga, “Neymar’s clearly the best that we have got at the moment and he is in the form of his life. Wherever he is playing, he is bringing success to his team.”
“But, it’s not about Neymar only. There are other quality players in the Brazilian squad who can also win games on their own.”
When asked about Peru running Brazil so close, the 51-year old said, “Well, you have to give the credit to them. They played better than the expectations of many people including me. They took everyone by surprise. But, we still were able to have three points next to our name at the end of it which was really satisfying.”
“Now, Colombia is next and we will discuss in the meeting how we should go against them. They are a quality side and they would be pushing hard.”
Brazil takes on Colombia this Wednesday.
