São Paulo managed a second draw in the last five matches of the Paulista A1 table after only managing a 0-0 draw with Rio Claro. The team was hoping to build on the winning run of two matches, in which they scored 10 goals.
This helped the club moved to the top of the league table with 16 points from six matches. However, they could only add a point from the next match as result of this draw. Manager Muricy Ramalho was not a happy man after the match and he blamed a lot of things for this poor result.
Ramalho also seemed visibly upset during the postmatch press conference. He replied in one word answers for most questions. He blamed the excessive heat for his players not performing well. The club will be hoping to return to winning ways from the next league match. It will be a difficult one, though, since it is against Corinthians. Corinthians have similar statistic to that of São Paulo having played a game less.
They will be posting a strong competition. There has been speculation thatRamalho may consider changing his team substantially as a result of this poor performance.Ramalho rejected those suggestions and he says that he plans to field a similar team for the match against Corinthians.
“The game was not good. The heat was strong, bad field, but both teams were not as expected. How did we lose the rapport with the changes, I think the draw was normal. We have the best championship bout, is even stranger when the game ends 0-0. No, the team will be totally different. There is nothing wrong, it was just a bad afternoon. It is a good player to a position that we need, as Maicon is output,” said a very impatient lookingRamalho.
